The film begins with the three brothers, Peter, Russell, and Francis, meeting at a train station in New York City, where they board the Darjeeling Limited, a famous Indian train. The brothers, who have been estranged for a while, are on a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation. Along the way, they encounter various characters, including a beautiful French woman, a train porter, and a mysterious American tourist.
